Ugh, so today was supposed to be my first day of the third year of college, and guess what? I'm late. Again. It's like a recurring nightmare. I mean, I get it, I've got to wake up early, make breakfast for my brother and me, and then drag him out of bed. And then there's the whole routine of getting ready for the day.

Not everyone is a morning person, and for some, the process of getting ready can be a bit more involved. Take, for instance, the experience of preparing for the day. While the basics of showering and getting dressed might only take a mere 30 minutes, the addition of putting on a wig, contact lenses, and fake glasses can significantly extend the routine. 

These extra steps are not just a matter of minutes; they are essential for crafting a distinct appearance, transforming one's look into something entirely different. So, while the act of getting ready may seem straightforward for some, for others, it's a more intricate process that demands a bit more time and attention.

After preparing myself, I went to my brother Mike's room to wake him up.

I barged into Mike's room, yelling at him to wake up for school. He was cozies up with his pillow, pleading for just five more minutes with those puppy eyes. I wasn't having it. After a bit of back and forth, he finally trudged down for breakfast, only to realize he was running late. Typical Mike. Some things never change, I thought to myself, shaking my head in mock exasperation.

Over the past two years, there has been a noticeable trend of keeping secrets from one another. Despite this, there is a strong sense of understanding and the ability to discern when something is troubling someone. It is important to recognize the significance of understanding and supporting each other, even when faced with challenges or moments of secrecy. 

Mike displays a unique blend of characteristics that often surprises those around him. While he may exhibit childlike behaviour on occasion, his intelligence, composure, and maturity are evident in his actions and decisions. Despite his outward persona, he possesses a deep emotional understanding and empathy for others. 

His ability to discern when to act like an adult and when to embrace his emotions showcases a nuanced understanding of human nature. His sensitivity is reflected in his respectful approach towards personal boundaries, as he refrains from prying into sensitive matters. Despite the desire to confide in him, the fear stemming from past experiences and uncertainty about the future hinders open communication, leaving a haunting presence in the present.

Despite everything, I still think of him as a kid.

Amid my thoughts, Mike interrupted with a question about his fee. Apologetically, I explained to him that I may be able to pay it tomorrow, as I was currently short on cash. Mike, understanding the situation, accepted my response and continued with his breakfast without any further concern.

Both Mike and I can afford our school and college fees through a combination of scholarship tests and winnings from various competitions. Mike, in particular, is an exceptionally intelligent student and has consistently been the top performer in his school. Similarly, I have also achieved the top position in my university, earning the nickname of "nerd." Due to my academic success, 

I was able to receive a 90% reduction in my fees, allowing me to afford the cost of education. Despite these accomplishments, we still face financial challenges that impact our ability to cover all of our expenses.

It is not uncommon to reflect on past experiences and compare them to our current circumstances. Often, we find ourselves feeling grateful for the positive changes and the sense of relief that comes with them. It seems that in the past, the challenges we encountered were far more daunting than what we are facing now. 

Looking back, it is clear that those times were the most harrowing experiences we have ever endured. Despite the hardships, we find solace in the fact that we made it through. We can only hope and pray that we never have to confront such adversity again.

"Hi sis, stop daydreaming, we have to reach our schools on time or else we are gonna be late," said Mike. I nodded in agreement. After a brief pause, we left home and headed to our respective education centres, whether it was school or university

My university... let's say is renowned for its high standards and prestigious reputation. Many influential and affluent individuals choose to enrol their children in this institution, which is known for its rigorous academic programs and exceptional faculty. While it may be tempting to assume that all students at this university are top achievers and recipients of scholarships and awards, the reality is that the student body is diverse and includes individuals from a variety of backgrounds and academic abilities.
