Serena's POV
As I pondered the reason for this unexpected meeting, I couldn't help but wonder about its intentions. When I politely inquired about the purpose of our meeting, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had some familiarity with the man before me. It was then that he revealed himself to be Alexander Anderson, a trustee of the school and a sponsor of the scholarship tests that are awarded to students annually. His introduction shed light on the reason for our meeting, and I began to understand the significance of our conversation.
"Ok... But why do you want to meet me, sir?" I asked curiously why did the trustee want to meet me.
"It is with great pleasure that I am reaching out to you to express my interest in offering you a job upon your graduation. Over the past three years, you have consistently excelled in our scholarship tests, even when they were at a higher level. Your exceptional performance in both exams and projects has not gone unnoticed, and I am thoroughly impressed with your results. I believe that you would be an excellent fit for our company, and I am eager to discuss the potential opportunity further. I look forward to the possibility of working with you shortly.ย "
ย It was a surprise to learn that Alexander Anderson, a renowned business tycoon and CEO of Anderson Private Limited, was interested in hiring me. I was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, and tears of happiness welled up in my eyes. This unexpected opportunity from one of the top companies in the world left me feeling incredibly fortunate.
Overwhelmed by the gravity of the moment, my voice broke as gratitude spilt forth, punctuated by intermittent sobs, "I... I don't... know what to say. Thank you so much, sir... I will do my best," I managed to articulate, even as tears streamed unrestrained, evoking the image of a neglected, open faucet.
Mr. Anderson, responded with a gentle smile, his voice steady and affirming, "You deserved it." His simple acknowledgement buoyed my spirits, and I nodded, my heart swelling with a mixture of pride and happiness.
However, the professional setting called for decorum, and thus I was reminded of my place. "Serena," he continued, his tone shifting to one of polite dismissal, "Mr. Anderson and I still have some unfinished business to discuss, so please wait outside." I complied with a respectful nod, my mind still abuzz with the recent turn of events. As I prepared to exit the room, Mr. Anderson's voice, now a low murmur, reached my ears, mentioning Mr. Frank in a context I could not discern. His words, tinged with an air of frustration, elicited a wry observation from Mr. Anderson, "Sure knows how to ruin a happy moment." Despite the seriousness of the situation, a giggle escaped me, and I stepped out, still processing the whirlwind of emotions.
Alone in the corridor, I thought about my future, being careful not to celebrate too early. The promise of a job after graduation gave me hope, but I remained watchful of the possibility that things could change. As I waited, I considered the idea that maybe luck or even divine intervention was on my side. With a hesitant sigh of relief, I let myself have a moment of contemplative rest, allowing myself to believe that life might be showing me a kinder side.
'Oh my goodness, I just had the most amazing realisation! I found out that he is the father of Asher, which means I can stay with Asher and see him every single day at the company. This is incredible news! I am so excited to have the opportunity to spend more time with Asher and to see him regularly. I can't wait to build a stronger connection with him and to be a part of his daily life. This is such a wonderful opportunity and I am feeling incredibly grateful and enthusiastic about it!'
"OMG Yes! Yes! Yes! I can't believe it!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, not caring at all about the confused looks from the people around me. I probably looked like a total fangirl, but I didn't care. I was just so excited and couldn't contain my emotions. At that moment, I didn't care about anything else. I couldn't help but smile like a complete fool, feeling a little embarrassed but mostly just overjoyed. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated excitement, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Mr.Franks Pov
In the quiet confines of my office, the subtle tension between Mr Anderson and myself hung palpably in the air, a stark contrast to the levity Serena had carried with her as she exited with a giggle.
ย Her academic prowess, marked by her unprecedented three-year streak of topping the challenging scholarship exams, was a testament to her extraordinary dedication. Her achievements were all the more remarkable considering the personal responsibilities she shouldered, caring for her younger brother and herself.
ย Despite her seemingly ordinary appearance, I had long surmised that Serena's life was anything but typical. Her solitude was not born of reticence but rather a necessityโa protective measure to shield herself from unseen dangers lurking beyond the sanctuary of her 'deep cave.'
Interrupting my ruminations, Mr Anderson's voice sliced through the silence, emphasising the word 'WARNING' as a clear provocation. I suppressed the urge to scoff aloud; the man's attempt at mockery did little to unsettle me. Instead, I let a wry smirk cross my lips as I contemplated the repercussions his 'bratty boy' might face should he be.
Yet, in an unexpected shift from our standoff, I leaned back in my chair and posed a question to Mr. Anderson, one that belied our current discourse, "How is My Dodo?" The inquiry, seemingly out of place, held a weight that only Alexander Anderson could fully appreciate.
